Alexandria’s Commitment to District 1

District 1 deserves leadership that is present, accessible, and genuinely responsive. I am committed to fostering a City Hall culture that prioritizes residents over donors or special interests.

Transparency and Accountability

1

People First Leadership

2

I center lived experience in policy decisions. That means listening early, showing up consistently, and building solutions with the community, not for the community. Leadership starts with respect for the voices of neighbors who live the realities our policies impact.

Fiscal Responsibility

3

I will steward public dollars with care and intention. Fiscal responsibility means aligning our budget with real community needs, investing in essential services, and planning for long-term stability. Responsible governance is about prioritizing people and protecting public resources.

Intentional Growth and System-Level Planning

4

I believe residents deserve clear communication and real opportunities to shape the decisions that affect their lives. I will prioritize transparency at every stage of the decision-making process so District 1 understands how and why policies are made. Accountability builds trust, and trust is the foundation of effective leadership.

District 1 is growing, and growth must be intentional. I support housing stabilization, thoughtful zoning updates, and district-specific planning that protects quality of life. Smart growth means balancing density, infrastructure, and preservation so our neighborhoods remain strong and livable.

Community Engagement and Quality of Life

5

I will run a District 1 office that is present, accessible, and actively engaged with residents year-round. My role is not only to represent District 1 at City Hall, but to collaborate consistently with neighbors to improve daily life across our communities.

Climate Sustainability

6

I support climate policies that protect public health and prepare District 1 for long-term resilience. That includes sustainable development, protecting green spaces, and investing in infrastructure that reduces environmental impact while supporting economic stability.

Housing and Infrastructure Balance

7

Housing affordability and infrastructure must be addressed together. I support a balanced approach that considers both green and gray infrastructure to ensure development strengthens livability, mobility, and neighborhood stability.

Public Safety

8

Public safety is about more than emergency response. I support safe streets, responsive services, and community-based solutions that help residents feel secure and supported in their daily lives.

What Leadership Means To Me

“Leadership, to me, is about responsibility. It is about showing up, listening, and doing the work alongside the people you serve. I have learned through years of neighborhood leadership that real progress happens when community voices are heard early, decisions are transparent, and trust is built through consistency. Leadership is not about recognition or titles. It is about being accountable to your neighbors and following through.”

“I believe strong leadership centers people first while planning for the long term. That means stewarding public resources carefully, making space for diverse perspectives, and approaching growth with intention so our neighborhoods remain livable and connected. As a City Council member, my commitment would be to lead with integrity, collaboration, and a deep respect for the responsibility entrusted to me by District 1.”
